The Societe Generale Foundation
Since its creation in 2006, the Société Générale Corporate Foundation has been active in the field of professional integration, especially in helping young people to start their careers and tackling illiteracy. Its scope has then been widened to include education and to support in particular charities that use sports and/or cultural activities to promote the integration of people in difficulty.
In Africa, the Société Générale Corporate Foundation specifically supports actions that favour education by fighting exclusion and discrimination with a view to employment, and supports three priority partners in Africa that are perfectly familiar with the challenges faced by the continent : Care, Simplon and Terres en Mêlées.
Simplon: digital technology in aid of the underprivileged
Simplon.co is a social enterprise that offers free intensive training in web-based professions. Available worldwide and open to all, its main goal is to help integrate underprivileged members of society and job seekers, in particular categories that are under-represented in web-based professions.
CARE: development programmes in aid of the impoverished
CARE works to help the poorest of people in more than 90 countries (Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe), setting up development programmes around education, equality, food and water safety, sanitisation, the environment, micro-entrepreneurship, healthcare and human rights.
Terres en Mêlées: developing education through rugby
Terres en Mêlées (TEM) designs educational programmes through rugby and environmental education for children living in remote and marginalised areas. It trains and qualifies teachers and assists them in setting up sports and environmental education programmes for schools.
Apart from these three main associations, Societe Generale also supports other associations in other African countries involved in professional or educational integration activities and projects enabling integration through sports and cultural activities. These activities form part of our bank's social mission for the development of Africa.
