Sogécapital Gestion signs the Principles for Responsible Investment

Société Générale Maroc has announced that its subsidiary Sogécapital Gestion has signed the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), supported by the United Nations. By signing these principles, Sogécapital Gestion officially becomes the first financial institution member in Morocco, joining more than 4,000 of the world's leading asset managers, asset owners and financial services providers.

As an entity specialised in the management of investment funds, and through its commitment, Sogécapital Gestion expresses its desire to promote responsible and civic-minded investment, by integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) extra-financial criteria into its investment strategies.

The Moroccan subsidiary undertakes to ask the companies in which it invests to show transparency on issues relating to ESG criteria. It will promote the application of these Principles in its ecosystem and work to improve their effective implementation. Finally, in a transparent and regular way, Sogécapital Gestion will report to the PRI on the progress made and the activities carried out in this respect.

"The Sogécapital Gestion team is very proud to join the network of the Principles for Responsible Investment supported by the United Nations and to commit itself, like Société Générale Maroc, to the finance of the 21st century", says Karim El Hnot, CEO of Sogécapital Gestion. "A finance that measures the environmental and societal impact of our investment decisions and works to promote a better world for future generations."

In return, Sogécapital Gestion will benefit from the support of the PRI network, a global network of financial institutions working to promote and integrate ESG criteria into their investment decision-making processes, notably through quality training and exchanges on best practices in this area.

"We are delighted to welcome Sogécapital Gestion to the PRI. Their recognition of the importance of integrating ESG criteria into the investment process sends a positive message to other asset managers that sustainable finance is clearly the way forward." Fiona Reynolds, CEO of the Principles for Sustainable Investment.
