Societe Generale is once again partner of the "RFI Challenge App Afrique".

Around 600 million Africans will be city-dwellers in 2025, and by 2050, 60% of the 1.5 billion of citizens of the continent will live in urban centers. Therefore, cities must rethink their model in order to provide the citizens with more adapted, stable and environment-friendly infrastructures and public services.

In this context, the challenge puts emphasis on integrating new technologies in the sector of urban development and Smart Cities in the French speaking African countries.

Each citizen of the continent can therefore apply until August 31 and submit an innovative digital project (website, app, SMS service) to support local life, mobility, housing renovation, land securitization, connected waste management and above all the city's adaptation to the ecological transition.

Three finalists will be invited to Dakar in December to present their project to a jury of professionals, chaired by the journalist and presenter Emmanuelle Bastide.

The winner of the RFI Challenge App Afrique 2019, succeeding to Serge Auguste Zaongo (Burkina Faso) and his app to manage irrigation in rural areas, will have the development of his app fully funded and will benefit from an international visibility.
