In January 2019, Societe Generale announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Absa Group Limited for the implementation of a commercial contract to jointly develop their activities by offering a pan-African banking services offer to destination of large customers.
This partnership is based on geographic complementarity and the combined strengths of Societe Generale and Absa to strengthen their know-how and offer a wide range of banking products and services to large companies and financial institutions, domestic and international, operating in Africa.

The partnership also includes a joint offer for Chinese companies operating in Africa, which was first presented in June 2019 in Beijing.
